Domino's New Recipe Pizza plus $20 gift card giveaway!

Domino's Pizza Domino's Pizza giveaway
I have always loved Domino's Pizza. I remember as a teen, when I used to buy it by the slice at their store in Albany, CA. It was actually "the" place to be - all of my friends and I were there almost daily, sitting out front, enjoying our pizza. It was new, it was hip, it was exciting! Over the years I have continued to enjoy Domino's Pizza, just the way it is, but now I am so excited to learn that they have a brand new recipe!
Domino's pizza gift card giveaway
Yep - Domino's Pizza has listened to their customers - and made some big changes! The primary changes include:
• Crust – A garlic seasoned crust with parsley baked to a golden brown
• Sauce – Sweeter, bolder tomato sauce with a medley of herbs and a red pepper kick
• Cheese – Shredded cheese made with 100% real mozzarella and flavored with just a hint of provolone

Yum.  I will be trying this new recipe from Domino's just as soon as I can. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy the thicker crust that is seasoned, the tastier sauce and real cheese.  Great move guys!  My mouth is watering just thinking about this new pizza goodness.

I watched this video with fascination - I hope you will watch it too to learn about this exciting news!

Would you like even more good news? You do not have to wait much longer to try the Domino's new recipe pizza!  Domino’s new pizza will be in all U.S. stores beginning December 27. Count me in!

On a side note, my family has been ordering from Domino's for years - not only because we enjoy their pizza but because of their prices. I am just stunned at how expensive many pizza delivery places are, yet Domino's prices have always remained reasonable. This is especially important to us in these hard economic times.

Is your mouth watering yet? Go out and try the new Domino's Pizza!

FOODIE BLOGGERS (and others) BEWARE!

BLOGGERS BEWARE!
I am sickened by something that has happened to a dear friend of mine.  Erin from Mrs. Cox's Slice o' Heaven and Snafood had something awful happen to her computer, all because of putting a button on her blog.  She has written a blog post on this, but I also wanted to share here, as the same thing could easily happen to one of us. Her computer is basically unusable now, but luckily she can use her husband's computer.  Please, please read her Blogger's Beware post.  Also, if you see any comment looking like this, do not communicate with these people:
"Hello - We bumped into your blog and really liked it YUM YUM.  We would like to add it to Petit Chef."
Then it goes on, asking that she link to them.  When she installed the button coding - like she would any other button code - her computer immediately started getting popups and she got over 50 viruses, worms, malware, etc. After she first told me about this, I found that this comment had also been left here on The Speedy Gourmet.  I deleted it immediately, but the same thing would have happened to me if I hadn't known her story. I also did a Google search and there is another similar sounding comment by someone else - it is also malware.  Please be very, very careful, and do your research before linking to someone from a comment! Please read Erin's entire post and tweet this (button is above).  Please also tell your blogging friends - this is bad! Photobucket

My Signature Shrimp Salad

I have a thing for salads.  I love that I can be creative and put whatever I want on them - how fun is that?

Here is my favorite - I came up this with this salad and it is perfect to have as a meal since there are lots of goodies on it:

SPEEDY'S POPCORN SHRIMP SALAD:

Romaine Lettuce
Croutons
Shaved Parmesan Cheese
Frozen Popcorn Shrimp (I use Sea Pak brand)
Poppyseed dressing (I use Marie's - some of the others are too watery)

Put as much or as little of everything on that you want!  Enjoy!

A Century of Flavor Cookbook Review and Giveaway (5 winners!)

A Century of Flavors cookbook giveaway

{CLOSED}
Have I got something special for you! This time of year makes me want to head to the kitchen to dig out my old recipes, and also to try new recipes! I was offered "A Century of Flavor" cookbook from Nielson-Massey Vanillas for review, and I am so thrilled with it. Not only is it gorgeous, but the recipes are absolutely mouth-watering.

About the cookbook and Nielsen-Massey Vanillas:

The delightful aroma of the kitchen during the holidays – with smells of cinnamon, peppermint, chocolate and vanilla – is a scent that many associate with long lived memories. The holiday season is a perfect time to create flavorful memories with your family and loved ones. Nielsen-Massey Vanillas A Century of Flavor cookbook provides moms with a variety of holiday recipes. Vanilla Carmel Corn Crunch can be made with your young chef, while Creamy Vanilla Sweet Potatoes is a perfect side to your family’s main course.

This vanilla-inspired cookbook, published by family-owned Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, celebrates the exciting nuances of one of America’s most-loved and versatile ingredients – pure vanilla. It is filled with 50 of the most tantalizing recipes, highlighting the intricate, yet delicate flavors of pure vanilla and is written for the novice cook as well as the seasoned chef.

This cookbook is a beauty!  It is a hard-cover book with 127 pages, and is filled with heavenly recipes. It includes sections such as: On the Side, Now This is Dinner!, Fresh Baked, It's Always Better with Vanilla and even the history of Nielsen-Massey.  The color photos in the cookbook are absolutely stunningThis recipe was absolutely delicious:

Nielsen-Masseey Vanilla a century of flavors cookbook review

CREAMY VANILLA SWEET POTATOES:

4 medium sweet potatoes
~canola oil
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
¼ cup real maple syrup
1 tablespoon Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
5 strips bacon, crisp-cooked and crumbled
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Wash the sweet potatoes and lightly coast the skins with canola oil. Pierce each potato several times with a fork. Place the potatoes on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour or until fork tender.

Cut the hot potatoes into halves. Scoop the potato pulp into a mixing bowl, discarding the skins. Beat at medium speed for 1 minute using an electric mixer. Add the cream cheese, butter, syrup, vanilla extract, salt and pepper. Whip until creamy.
Spoon the whipped potatoes into six ramekins coated with nonstick cooking spray and top with the bacon. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheat 375-degree oven for 5 to 8 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, they may be reheated in a microwave for 2 to 3 minutes.

Serves 6

This would be a perfect dish to go along with your holiday dinners.  If this isn't enough to make you hungry, you might like to try the Crab Cakes with Vanilla Remoulade, the Apricot Mango BBQ Ribs or Marcy's Vanilla Sugar-Crusted Scones.  Mmmmm - I cannot wait to try them all.

The recipes are simple and easy to follow, which I really love.  You can order the A Century of Flavors cookbook online, or you can win one here!
